Peter grew up in Chesterfield and sang in the Parish Choir at age 10.

At William Rhodes Secondary School he was introduced to the work of Gilbert and Sullivan by his music teacher David Windle.

He joined Chesterfield Gilbert and Sullivan Society in 1972 and sang with them until he went to Teacher Training College.

Peter returned to William Rhodes to teach Art and Design and also taught at The Bolsover School until he retired in 2012.

Peter played the Tuba with Rhodian Brass for over 20 years. During that time the band enjoyed considerable success and established itself as one of the best Midlands brass bands.

Peter rejoined The G&S Society in 2012, and took part in his first stage production at the Pomegranate that year.

Apart from singing,his interest are golf, table tennis and gardening.
